Open Source WorkGroup 3-7-07

Formed:  March 14, 2007

Workgroup Charge:

To evaluate and make recommendations to LouHIE regarding the potential benefits and issues related to specifying and using open-source software and/or methodologies to develop health record banking and related e-health technologies.  Issues to consider include reliability, vendor support, costs, industry trends, impacts on various stakeholder groups (physicians, hospitals, payers, technology firms et al) impacts on standards and interoperability, and economic development issues/opportunities for Louisville and Kentucky. 

The work should include specific consideration and recommendations related to the proposal from Skip McGaughey of Eclipse/Open Health IT.
